Fury as TV spies get stress help.

BARMY council bosses have been slammed for wasting taxpayers' money - on stress counselling for spy camera snoops.

The support scheme is designed to help CCTV spies who get stressed out watching rowdy revellers and fighting street gangs.

But angry residents say the cash - which will run into thousands of pounds if the scheme catches on - would be better spent on putting more bobbies on the beat.

Shopkeeper Jas Singh, of Luton, Beds, said: "It's mad. These people are not exactly in the thick of the action. They'll be offering counselling outside cinemas next for people who have seen nasty movies."

South Bedfordshire District Council boss Jon Ruddick said: "We are looking after our CCTV operatives' welfare."
