The Linkway Furniture chain of stores has been sold to Lowry Furniture in North Little Rock. All four Linkways -- Russellville, Rogers, Fayetteville and Harrison -- are included in the deal.

One source tells us that First National Bank and Trust of Rogers maintained ownership of the accounts receivable in the deal.

Linkway previously had stores in Jacksonville and Stuttgart that are now closed. At one time, Linkway had as many as 40 employees on staff, but that number has dwindled to about 20.

The chain was acquired by General Properties/Crestwood in its acquisition of Fones Brothers Hardware (which included Linkway and Fones Realty) in the early '80s.

We're told Doug Brandon looked at buying the chain a while back, but decided not to.

A.J. Lowry declined to disclose the sale price.
