Fur he's a jolly good...

ROCKER Brian May was cock of the walk on the red carpet last night at the Daily Mirror's Animal Hero Awards.

In a jacket shimmering with a colourful poultry design the animal-loving Queen guitarist, 68, arrived with missus Anita Dobson, 66, to hail our winners.

TV presenter Amanda Holden, 44, hosted the bash in London. Britain's Got Talent star Pudsey and owner Ashleigh Butler, 20, presented Caring Animal Of The Year award to whippet Holly, who is a lifeline for diabetic owner Amy Wilton.

Miniature pony Twiggy and owner Caroline Seignot took a night off from visiting hospices to strut their stuff.

Naturalist Bill Oddie, said: "It's beyond belief what some of these animals do."
