Funny girls are queens of comedy.

COMEDY fans say women are tickling their funny bones the most.

The top two places in a poll to find the UK's favourite comedians were taken by women - with a massive 78 per cent of the vote between them.

Sarah Millican, 42, got 42 per cent while Miranda Hart, 44, polled 36 per cent.

Absolutely Fabulous, created by Jennifer Saunders and starring her and Joanna Lumley, was named as the funniest ever show on TV.

Geordie joker Sarah worked in a Jobcentre until she was 29 but quit and turned to comedy after her husband left her in 2004.

She went on to win Best Newcomer at the Edinburgh Fringe in 2008.

The third and fourth places in the survey, commissioned by cleft palate charity Smile Train, went to Michael McIntyre and Ricky Gervais.
