Funeral of 'butterfly girl' Lauren.
THE funeral of an inspirational "butterfly girl" will be held today.
Lauren Rogers spent her short life raising money and awareness about Epidermolysis Bullosa (EB) - a genetic condition where even the slightest friction causes the skin to blister and shear off.
Hailed an "inspiration" the 19-year-old from Denbigh regularly appeared in the Daily Post for being among North Wales' few "butterfly children" where even the softest bed sheets or the seam stitching inside her clothes was enough to cause blisters.
She passed away on May 23 after contracting pneumonia.
Lauren - known to loved ones as Lolly - had ambitions of becoming a play specialist after passing her Level 2 childcare at Llandrillo College in Denbigh.
Her devastated mum, Nichola said: "Lauren helped a lot of people with EB - I hadn't realised how much because that was her thing - something she didn't need me to help her with.
"She was a fighter right up until the end. It was an honour and a privilege to be her mother."
Lauren's funeral will be held at 2pm at St Mary's Church, Denbigh. Donations are being accepted towards Jonny Kennedy North East and The Butterfly Network.
