Fun Works Author to Sign Books At Borders in Phoenix.

Business Editors

CLEVELAND--(BUSINESS WIRE)--July 10, 2001

Leslie Yerkes, the author of the new book, Fun Works: Creating Places Where People Love to Work, will be appearing at Borders, 870 N. 54th St., Phoenix, AZ on Tuesday, August 07, 2001 for an evening book signing.

Her previous book, 301 Ways to Have Fun at Work, also published by Berrett-Koehler, is an industry best seller and has been translated into five foreign languages.

Yerkes says we spend more of our lives at work than at any other single activity. For many, that time is unsatisfying; it is not happy, joyous, or fulfilling. Simply put, work is not fun. We feel we are not allowed to bring our whole selves to work, that we must leave the fun-loving, friendly, happy, energetic person we really are at home so that we can focus the intellectual, serious, hard-working portion of our being on our jobs. It is part of our work culture that fun and work should be separated. Yerkes says it is time to break that taboo: "For years we have felt that fun could only exist after work. That we had to work hard to earn our fun. People are no longer willing to live like this. It is time for all of us to challenge those taboos."

Yerkes has discovered that the eleven Principles of Fun/Work Fusion(TM) produce employees who are energized, motivated, and creative with higher morale, less stress, and more ownership. Companies that utilize The Fun/Work Fusion(TM) Principles experience greater productivity, higher earnings, and a greater ability to attract and retain peak performers. According to Yerkes, where these principles are applied, employees love both their jobs and their employers.

POSSIBLE STORY IDEAS INCLUDE: taking the Fun/Work Fusion(TM) test to see how much fun you think your work is; giving examples of how to make work fun' the advantages of fun in the work place; what to really look for when you're looking for a job; and why the perception of work has changed through history.

Yerkes is president of Catalyst Consulting Group, Inc., an organizational development/change management consulting firm based in Cleveland, Ohio.

Following her signing, Yerkes will be available for interviews. Phone: 216-241-3939 Email: fun@catalystconsulting.net Website: www.changeisfun.com
