Full list of Tour of Britain Wirral road closures as it arrives this week; Some road closures will be in place from tomorrow (Tuesday, September 10).

Birkenhead Park is set to host the start and finish of the stage five part of this year'sOVO Energy Tour of Britainwhen it comes to Wirral this week.

The tour has confirmed some of the world's top riders will be taking part in the week-long event that will begin in Glasgow and will eventually finish its Stage eight phase in Manchester

The Wirral stretch of the tour will take place on Wednesday, September 11, and will see Team INEOS, Team Jumbo-Visma and Team Sunweb headline the 20 teams that are competing in this year's race.

Riders will pass through Port Sunlight and into Cheshire West and Chester before returning toWirral viaHeswall, Caldy andHoylake.

The finish line will be based atBirkenhead Park.

The race comes as another tourism win for Wirral as the borough celebrates being named Borough of Culture for Liverpool City Region.

However, residents and visitors are being advised road closures will be in place during the event. Many will be rolling closures, meaning the roads will only be closed for short period of time while the riders pass.

Where possible road access will be kept in place for residents and businesses too.
