Full Monty treatment for garden.

The national Botanic Garden enjoyed a bumper Easter bonanza after it was backed by TV gardener Monty Don. The Gardener's World host urged viewers to visit the struggling attraction for themselves as he signed off the programme on Good Friday.

Monty has done for the Botanic Garden what celebrity chef Delia Smith once did for the sales of egg and cranberries, as more than 4,000 visitors flocked to the Carmarthenshire attraction.

The housewives' favourite said that ongoing investment was still needed to secure the garden's long-term future. He said: 'I have been four times now and it is one of the best gardens made in the past 50 years. I think it should be a source of pride for Welsh people and a huge draw for visitors.'
