Fulcrum FIND! To Allow Web Users to Reach into Microsoft Exchange Exchange Users to Reach Out to Web and Beyond.

Fulcrum Unveils "Web-Enabled" Product Strategy For Its Microsoft Exchange Add-On, Adds Support For Private Folders In Exchange

In conjunction with its announcements on several related Intranet product initiatives, Fulcrum Technologies Inc. today announced plans to web-enable Fulcrum(R) FIND!(TM) for Microsoft(R) Exchange Server. Fulcrum FIND! provides advanced indexing and content-based searching for the Microsoft Exchange Server messaging environment. Upcoming enhancements to the Fulcrum FIND! Server will allow administrators to add Fulcrum-indexed Web sites and other Fulcrum-indexed data sources into the list of searchable folders, so that users can seamlessly search CD-ROM, Web sites, Microsoft Exchange public folders, RDBMS, and office files, all from Microsoft Exchange clients.

The Fulcrum FIND! upgrade will also enable Microsoft Exchange Server public folders to be searched using a standard Web browser, with direct access to Microsoft Exchange data so that users get up-to-the-minute information in response to their searches. Fulcrum also announced upcoming support for private-folder searching. Fulcrum FIND! consists of client and server components, both of which integrate tightly with Microsoft Exchange Server. With the planned upgrades to Fulcrum FIND!, administrators will be able to index document collections outside of Microsoft Exchange Server, on remote Internet and Intranet servers, so that they can be searched and made accessible to Microsoft Exchange users. With Fulcrum FIND! on the desktop, Microsoft Exchange users will be able to search an integrated list of Fulcrum-indexed Web servers, which can be included in any search of Microsoft Exchange public folders.

"Fulcrum FIND! provides valuable functionality that extends the information-sharing capabilities of Microsoft Exchange Server," said Greg Lobdell, group product manager, Messaging And Groupware for Microsoft. "Whether users are accessing public folders from a Web browser or reaching out to the Web from a Microsoft Exchange client, accessing information via the Web is an integral part of users' needs, and we are pleased that Fulcrum FIND! complements our own efforts in this area."

"This product is an important component of our Intranet strategy to `bridge the islands of information' across an enterprise," said Peter Klante, Fulcrum's vice president of marketing. "Groupware and the Web are rapidly merging together. We have anticipated this trend in unveiling a Web-enabled Fulcrum FIND! product for Microsoft Exchange Server. Fulcrum FIND! is the only commercially available product of its kind, and it is well positioned to be the first to allow a Microsoft Exchange client to search Web sites while allowing a Web browser to search public folders. Fulcrum delivers on the promise of information-retrieval solutions that fit in to our customers' computing environments, whether their desktops are dominated by email, the Web, or traditional Windows(R)-based applications."
