Fuel prices drop for the 2nd month; market.

FUEL prices have dropped for the second month running figures revealed yesterday.

Petrol fell by 2c to an average of 149.3 cents per litre while diesel dropped by 1.7c month on month to an average of 141.1c.

But experts warn the minor falls are expected to be short-lived as retailers struggle to match forecourt prices against the cost of crude oil globally.

AA Ireland spokeswoman Miriam O'Neill said: "While a price drop is welcome, activity within the global markets surrounding the price of a barrel of oil would suggest it's to be short-lived.

"The uncertainty surrounding the euro [means] we're likely to see quite a bit of volatility pricewise."
