Business has certainly taken its lumps in 2003-some deserved, but most, I think, not deserved. It is so easy to get tarred with somebody else's brush.

Businesses have been meeting payrolls, putting out good products, satisfying customers-and in most ways doing the best they can. Keep up the good work.

Let that occasional scalawag that crops up among us every now and again be cause for rededication of purpose and strengthening focus on goals. And not only that, but of feeling good about what we are doing.

If these words are all just a little too goody-two-shoes, then try this: the Advent Season is a time of renewal and of looking to the future with hope and anticipation. Make something good happen. Start with a jovial spirit and cheerful outlook. It can work wonders. And from all of us at Alaska Business Monthly, we toast your health and prosperity.
