From The Forum; Your views on surgery being refused to smokers. Have your say by visiting www.birminghammail.net/forum.
THEY should only operate on people who smoke if the operating theatre has extractor fans! Or if they are operating on a smoker shouldn't they do it outside the hospital?
AREN'T surgeons bound by the Hippocratic Oath or is that no longer practised these days?
Anyway, I was under the impression that surgeons can't play the political game of who to save and who not to save. They have to be seen as being neutral and to save a person's life come what may.
If surgeons are given the right to decide then where do you draw the line?
I SUPPOSE the next thing will be not to allow people who smoke or drink etc into hospitals at all. Pathetic!
