Friendly faces provide a welcome break.
I DON'T want to move back to London where some of my successful actor and model friends think it is fine to take drugs and have affairs. It's fun to see them occasionally and last week when I was feeling so low and dowdy it did me good.
I've just spent three days with Toyah Wilcox, left, who is a like-minded soul. It was funny to be hanging out with someone I admire so much. I remember going to some of her early gigs and watching how her career encompassed acting, punk and writing, which was at that time my dream combination.
Toyah is an incredibly self-sufficient person and works tirelessly hard. Having just finished 14 months on tour in Calamity Jane she is writing a novel for children with a before-Christmas deadline.
I had a great few days away; a nice escape from my personal dramas. I enjoyed listening to her chat and found her full of fascinating stories. Apparently she'd gone on I'm a Celebrity. ..Get Me Out Of Here! thinking it would be a holiday! She told me it was immeasurably hard, but grounding. We exchanged lots of press horror stories and I laughed and relaxed and felt away from it all.
