Frewin ruins Stour hopes.

STOURBRIDGE 15 WHARFEDALE 30

STOURBRIDGE'S dismal New Year continued as they failed to turn possession into points against their Yorkshire visitors.

Skipper Ben Hughes gave them a perfect platform when he powered over for a try after just six minutes.

Tom Barrett reduced the arrears with a penalty ten minutes later but the home side were in control as they laid siege to the Dale line.

Prop Will Davis had a try disallowed before the visitors had second-row Talite Vaioleti sent to the sin-bin.

But for all their pressure, Stourbridge could not add to their tally and the Dalesmen finished the half with a flurry of tries. After Barrett had kicked a second penalty, he then slotted over the conversions to Dan Solomi and Simon Horsall tries.

In the second half, James Rodley adding a second try for the hosts - only for winger Simon Frewin to be sent off on 55 minutes for a stamp. Dale then wrapped up the points with further tries from Rob Baldwin and winger James Druce before Tom Jarvis grabbed a late consolation for Stour.

STOURBRIDGE: tries: Hughes, Rodley, Jarvis.

WHARFEDALE: tries: Horsfall, Solomi, Baldwin, Druce; conversions: Barrett (2); penalties: Barrett (2).
