America West FlightFund

In the aftermath of the America West-US Airways merger, which keeps the newly formed US Airways in the Star Alliance, the longstanding frequent flyer partnerships between America West and both British Airways and Northwest (which participate in the competing oneworld and SkyTeam alliances, respectively) will be terminated. FlightFund members can continue earning miles for British Air flights through December 31. Miles can be redeemed for awards booked on BA through February 15, 2006, with award travel completed by January 31, 2007. March 31, 2006 is the last day of reciprocal mileage earning and redemption on Northwest flights, and all award travel must be completed by March 31, 2007. American AAdvantage

AAdvantage members will earn double miles for travel on American Airlines' new nonstop flights between Los Angeles and San Antonio between Oct. 30, 2005 and Jan. 31, 2006. Delta SkyMiles

Delta SkyMiles and SkyPoints American Express cardholders can earn double miles or points on eligible purchases made with the cards between Nov. 1 and Dec. 31. There's a limit of 10,000 bonus miles or points per member, and miles and points which would be doubled anyway, under the Amex "Always Double Miles" feature, are exempt. United Mileage Plus

United forms new agreement for miles with Chase Bank. United Airlines could generate several billion dollars from a new agreement for frequent-flier miles with Chase Bank. The new agreement, which runs to 2012, will allow Chase to "make a substantial advance purchase of miles." The agreement will give United the funds necessary to finish a separate credit-card processing agreement with a unit of Chase. Oct 12, 2005

US Airways hires more agents to help elite fliers. Complaints from elite travelers spurred US Airways to hire 30 new reservation agents to serve frequent fliers. Some of the top passengers complained about getting more non-native English speakers on the phone. Oct 17, 2005

US Airways Dividend Miles

Bank of America sues US Airways over frequent-flier card. Bank of America has sued US Airways claiming the carrier breached a contract when it let another bank offer a credit card offering frequent-flier miles. Bank of America said it has the exclusive right to offer a US Airways frequent-flier card. US Airways did not comment on the lawsuit. Oct 13, 2005
