French keeps Bishops clear; LEAMINGTON & DISTRICT LEAGUE.

BISHOPS Itchington held on to top spot in Division One when Joe French's goal secured maximum points at Khalsa but Westlea Wanderers are in hot pursuit after a 2-0 win against Leamington Royals that was far more comfortable than the scoreline suggests.

Leek Wootton remain deep in trouble after Lee Burden's double condemned them to a 2-0 reverse at Warwick Wanderers.

Chadwick End collected their second Division Two draw in a row as Ross Jackson twice hauled them level against Khalsa Reserves while Heathcote Athletic paid for squandering a string of first-half chances when Ross Jackson's put the visitors in front Daniel Long's hat-trick gave Kenilworth Town a 3-1 decision.

David Jones also bagged a treble as Murphy's Bar trounced Ettington Rovers 4-0 in Division Three where two apiece from Paul Shelswell and Tom Sumerville teed up AFC Warwick's 6-1 result against Leamington Juniors.

Another three-goal hero was Paul Rowe who made all the difference as Division Four leaders Midland Rangers outgunned Antelope United 4-2. HRI Wellesbourne opened their account in the first minute and went on to trounce Division Five rivals Bell Green Rovers 6-1. Greg Eales weighed in with a hat-trick while manager Mike Timms marked a rare start with a cracking header in the last minute.

Mark Flowers hit two for Kineton Sports but that wasn't enough as they were shaded 3-2 by Leam Town Jets.
