French are winning material.

VERN COTTER insists Scotland's clash against France tomorrow will be a test against the potential winners of the Rugby World Cup.

The Dark Blues head coach is convinced Les Bleus could go the distance at England 2015 as he once again rings the changes for a final warm-up match before a Pool B opener against Japan on September 23.

Sean Maitland ends a seven month injury absence by lining up at full-back in place of the injured Stuart Hogg and Tommy Seymour gets his first outing of a four-game preparation series.

But Cotter is adamant the Stade de France encounter will provide the prefect gauge for his players when they face a French side capable of lifting the trophy.

He said: "Are the French candidates to win the World Cup? Absolutely.

"They've been finalists three times and they're better prepared this year than for a while.

"This is our last 80 minutes to prepare for Japan, which is just a couple of weeks away.

"So it's our last opportunity to prepare for things that didn't go well in previous warm-up games against Italy and Ireland."
