FreeCheck launches new e-payment system in the UK.
FreeCheck has launched the Micropayments System, its new service designed to allow companies to sell instant access to restricted areas of their web site on a pay-per-view basis.
With the system, which does not require any specialist e-commerce software to be implemented, a window appears on the web site when online information is chargeable, asking the user to dial a telephone number from any phone and to enter a randomly generated PIN. The transaction is then charged to the caller's telephone bill. FreeCheck collects the revenues, providing a full audit trail to its clients.
A demonstration of the system is available at FreeCheck's web site at http://www.freecheck.co.uk.
