Free seminar on searching for new management company.

Metropolitan New York area co-op and condo boards either contemplating or actively in search of new management for their properties are invited to attend a free seminar entitled "How to Choose the Right Management Company for Your Residential Property" on Thursday, October 28th from 6:30 to 9:30 p.m. at the Loews New York Hotel (Lexington Avenue at 51st Street) in Manhattan.

The seminar is being presented as a public service by Long Island-based bdci publishing & communications, publishers of the book "How to Choose the Right Management Company for Your Residential Property: A Decision-Maker's Guide," which has been called "the Bible of the management selection process."

Seminar seating is limited. Reservations are required by calling Corinne Bentley at (516) 938-0323.

Topics to be covered during the seminar include the current state of the local residential property management industry; the services that properties should legitimately expect from their management company and the spectrum of management companies operating in New York: how management companies operate internally; a discussion of management fees; management and technology; how to go about a successful management search; how to understand the typical management contract; and what to expect during the transition phase. The evening will conclude with a question and answer period. Refreshments will be served.

Every seminar participant also will receive a complimentary copy of "How to Choose the Right Management Company for Your Residential Property: A Decision-Maker's Guide."

"In addition to the regular ebb and flow within the local community of several thousand co-ops and condos relative to changes in management, the recent industry scandal has caused a great deal of activity that is likely to increase as more information be comes available," said Barbara Dershowitz, long-time consultant to the residential management field, past contributing editor of The Cooperator, Managers Report, Better Buildings, Real Estate Forum, and other industry publications, and bdci publisher/editor-in-chief.
