Free party thrown for young city carers.

MERSEYSIDE youngsters have been treated to a special party for their devotion in looking after their ill or disabled parents.

The 10 children from across Merseyside came together at the Barnardo's centre in Colquitt Street.

The party was laid on free of charge by children's party company Girls Just Wanna Have Fun, which is based in Wirral and North Wales.

Ros Potts, managing director of Girls Just Wanna Have Fun, said: ``It can be very hard for these children looking after their ill and disabled parents and we hope the party allows them to escape for just a couple of hours and enjoy themselves as children.''

Barnardo's aims to improve the life chances of children and young people across Britain.

The charity provides support to more than 9,000 children and young people and their families in communities across the north west.
