Free from infirmity.

* I was delighted to read the article "Reiki goes mainstream" (NCR, June 20-July 3) but amazed at the quote from the U.S. Conference of Catholic Bishops, which issued guidelines in 2009, saying, "A Catholic who puts his or her trust in Reiki would be operating in the realm of superstition."

In my experience, there are so many situations where Reiki has been so effective, especially in the area of stress. Many hospitals offer it to patients who request it with positive results.

It wasn't long ago that, as a Reiki master, I taught Reiki in a Catholic college as part of its holistic studies program, with wonderful results expressed by the women who took the class. I still use it in my practice of "life source energy" to relieve stress and other physical imbalances.

Didn't Jesus put his hand on the bent woman and say; "Woman, you are free from your infirmity?"
