PEOPLE across Dudley were urged today to have life-saving safety checks carried out on their electric blankets.

Dudley Council trading standards officers are to carry out the free checks.

"Having your blanket tested can save your life." The checks, by appointment only, are in Stourbridge, Lower Gornal, Halesowen, Brierley Hill and Dudley during the week beginning October 29, from 9.30am each day.

Anyone whose blanket fails will be given a new one or vouchers towards a replacement.
