Fred Trump donates building.

Fred C. Trump announced that he will donate a Brooklyn real estate property valued at approximately $33 mil]ion to the National Kidney Foundation of New York and New Jersey, which will be used by the Foundation to fund research grants and fellowships in the field of kidney disease.

It is believed to be the largest gift of its kind given to a non-profit health organization.

The real estate parcel, the apartment complex, "Patio Gardens," located at 580-590 Flatbush, Avenue., was built in 1962 and contains 500 units.

The Trump gift will be used to create the Fred C. Trump Fellowship and the Fred C. Trump "Young Investigators" award to support and develop new research in the prevention and cure of kidney and kidney-related diseases and to enhance the success of dialysis and transplantation, said Dr. Ira Greifer, president of the National Kidney Foundation of New York and New Jersey.

The Fred C. Trump Fellowship will be given to two doctors in the New York and New Jersey area and two from other parts of the country. Each Trump fellow will be trained over two years in clinical and basic research and patient care in the field of nephrology.

The Fred C. Trump Young Investigators Award will be given to a young scientist from the New York/New Jersey area and one from another part of the country to conduct independent research. Research will be supported over a one-to-two year term.

All appointments will be effective as of July 1, 1993 for local recipients, and July 1, 1994 for national recipients.
