Frankfurt Airport reports 2.1% increase in passengers for July.

Frankfurt Airport (FRA), Germany, has announced that it served 5,191,760 passengers in the reporting month of July 2007, a 2.1% increase compared to the previous monthly record of July 2006.

Frankfurt Airport served 181,464 passengers in a single day on 29 July 2007, meaning the day ranked as the third busiest passenger day in the airport's history, and the busiest so far this year.

Intercontinental traffic was reportedly the highest growth driver with a 3.4% increase, with Middle East destinations increasing by 17.7%, Egypt 17.2%, the Dominican Republic 23.1%, Maldives 21.3% and Sri Lank up 24.3%. European traffic also experienced a 2.5% increase.

In addition, Frankfurt Airport handled 174,345 metric tons in the reporting month, reaching its highest level of freight tonnage to date, with a 7% increase in cargo tonnage on US routes noted. It also experienced a 1% airmail throughput increase to 7,425 metric tons in July and saw a 0.2% increase in aircraft movements in the reporting month, with 43,675 take-offs and landings, according to the Fraport AG.
