Frank's recipe for success.

Byline: By MAEVE QUIGLEY

FAIR City actor Frank Mackey has revealed that he swapped chef's whites for the stage.

The 38-year-old star is currently trying to expose scheming Fiona as the curse of Carrigstown in his role as businessman John Piggott.

But he is also recognisable as the top chef who co-presented the RTE series Pot Luck.

Cork-born Frank said: "I came to Dublin to attend the Gaiety School Of Acting but before that I trained as a chef for four years in Cork.

"I was always interested in acting and I knew I wanted to do it.

"But actually after I left the Gaiety school one of the first jobs I did was Pot Luck with Carrie Crowley.

"I was the resident chef and I suppose it would have been the Ready, Steady, Cook of its day. "

As John Piggott in the hit soap, Frank is in for a rough ride - his onscreen father James will be murdered tomorrow by his second wife Fiona.
