Francis I. Gibson, 85.

HOLDEN Francis I. Gibson, 85, of 243 Main St., died Thursday, August 9 at UMass Memorial - Memorial Campus, Worcester.

He leaves his wife of 61 years, Betty M. Gibson; a daughter, Barbara L. Gibson of Holden; and several nieces and nephews. His four brothers, Arthur, Elwin, Alwis, and Stanley Gibson and one sister, Bertha Lindgren, predeceased him. He was born in Worcester on April 24, 1922, son of Arthur S. and Florence (Artman) Gibson.

Francis was the owner of Gibson's Variety Store in Holden for 44 years. He was a former member of the Exchange Club of Holden and Chaffins Men's Club of Holden. He was a family man who loved life and people and enjoyed baseball, traveling, and fine dining.

The funeral will be held Monday, August 13 at 11:00 a.m at RICE FUNERAL HOME, 300 Park Ave., Worcester. Burial will be in Walnut Grove Cemetery, North Brookfield. Calling hours are Sunday from 4 to 6 p.m at the funeral home.
