Fox News' dig at Democrats using 'Losing My Religion' track during DNC coverage leaves R.E.M. fuming.

Washington, Sep 8 ( ANI ): American rock band R.E.M. were reportedly furious after Fox News played its famous track 'Losing My Religion' during the coverage of the Democratic National Convention.

The band's frontman, Michael Stipe, lashed out at the right-leaning news network for playing a snippet from the track in an apparent dig at the Democrats' level of faith.

"We have little or no respect for their puff adder brand of reportage. Our music does not belong there," the New York Daily News quoted Stipe, as saying, on the band's website.

The band and its music publisher, Warner-Tamerlane Music, demanded that Fox News "cease and desist from continuing its unlicensed and uauthorized use of the song."

The REM salvo comes less than a month after Twisted Sister's Dee Snyder demanded that Republican vice presidential candidate Paul Ryan stop using the band's song, "We Aren't Going to Take It," at his campaign rallies, the report said.

In another instance, the band Silversun Pickups also asked GOP presidential candidate Mitt Romney to stop using their song, "Panic Switch," on his campaign tour.

"We don't like the Romney campaign," frontman Brian Aubert said in a statement. ( ANI )
