Fowler move is a joke; THE MIDWEEK DERBY - The Anfield Iron v The Goodison Legend: TRANSFER FEE 'SHOULD BE AT LEAST DOUBLE'.

I HAVE just heard that Robbie Fowler will travel to Leeds today to talk to them regarding an pounds 11m transfer.

I find this a joke.

Fowler is one of the most talented players in the Premiership and Liverpool selling him to a rival club for just pounds 11m is stupid.

The price should be at least double and even then it is wrong to sell him.

I wonder whether Gerard Houllier has thought this through enough.

You have to feel sorry for Robbie as any time when he gets a chance to prove himself he finds himself in a bad situation. Robbie had a chance to prove himself as the number one striker at the club against Blackburn but the tactics used were a joke.

CHRIS MELIA, Liverpool.

THE following messages have already arrived from all over the world on the ic Liverpool message board:

I'M very unhappy to hear of Fowler's departure.

With doubts over Owen's fitness and Heskey's not-soprolific goal scoring record, we should have broken the bank to keep him. It feels like we have lost a piece of history today and taken a step back in terms of progress.

Milan Baros, or whoever they buy, will have some big shoes to fill on his arrival. On top of selling one of our greatest assets he has been sold to Leeds, a title rival who now boast "probably" the best strike force in the premiership.

Robbie Fowler, You will never walk alone.

JAMES from London

I AM totally in favour of Fowler leaving Liverpool. His form this season has been poor. Even with a decent run in the side, I doubt the goals will come.

Liverpool's style of play under Houllier/Thompson does not suit Fowler. The asking price of pounds 11m is too low and the thought of him going to Leeds stinks even more!

ON behalf of LUFC, we would like to thank you for your Christmas Gift.

It was just what we needed.

ACTION MAN from Leeds

LOSING Robbie will be a great loss to the club and I would like to wish him the best if he joins Leeds. For Robbie it could be a good thing and hopefully it will reunite his partnership with Owen for England.

DAVID DICKSON from Johannesburg

I CANNOT believe Liverpool are selling Fowler. This is about the most unpopular thing that could happen, selling a great asset! Why can't the club get to grips with a contract and get this sorted? If this was the commercial business world whoever made the decision would be sacked!

RON SPENCER from Longmont, Colorado USA

WHAT a disgrace. How can this club sell someone like Fowler, and keep a rubbish player like Heskey?

He's never going to be a big goalscorer, and, when Leeds win the title at the end of the season, who will be laughing then?
