Fowler and McIlroy get my nod at Augusta.
Betting on the first Major of the golfing year by DALE TEMPEST FOR golf fans, the Masters are probably the best four days in the year.
A select field playing the same course in very similar conditions every year creates one of the greatest sporting spectacles on the calendar.
I play a very bad game of golf at 13 handicap, so I am half competent with a club in my hands, but these guys play a completely different game. Only 89 will be starting out in the tournament this year, so if you are betting each way I would suggest you go to Skybet, who are paying eight places.
That is a huge offer for golf punters.
I have two selections against the field.
Firstly, I really like Rickie Fowler (pictured). He has won four times in the last 11 months and, on a course where he used to struggle, he has finished fifth and 12th in his last two Masters tournaments.
On the US Tour, Fowler is in the top three in scoring on par 5s, and one of the rules of Augusta is that if you play the par 5s well, you will have a great chance of winning.
My other bet, like many, will be on Rory McIlroy.
No European has won the Green Jacket since Jose Maria Olazabal in 1999, but for me, if every player turned up with their 'A' game, then I do think McIlroy would come out on top.
