Fourth spot up for grabs; FOOTBALL.

RENNES v VALENCIENNES 7.45pm THE winner of tonight's clash between Rennes and Valenciennes will move into fourth spot in Ligue 1, but it is easy to have misgivings about either side collecting three points, writes Ian Wilkerson.

Valenciennes are the higher placed team on goal difference but their decent progress has mainly come as a result of their performances at home.

On the road, they have won just one of their last seven and this looks to be a tough assignment for a team who have to pick themselves up from a 4-0 thumping at the hands of Paris St-Germain on Tuesday.

Rennes have won four home games but each of those victories have come against teams who are below them in the table, so this clash represents a step up.

Valenciennes have found thenet in seven of their last eight away games and Rennes have scored in six of their last seven at home so it is a little surprising to see 10-11 available about both teams finding the net tonight.

Recommendation Both teams to score 1pt 10-11 Hills
