A wave of gun attacks in Liverpool saw four people shot at three different pubs on Saturday night.

The shootings all took place in the West Derby suburb of the city - not far from gang and gun crime hotspots Croxteth and Norris Green.

At 11.10pm two people pulled up on a motorbike outside the Sefton Arms on Mill Lane, and fire three shots, hitting three men who were leaving the pub.

The victims were taken to hospital and treated for shotgun pellet wounds to their legs before being discharged.

Minutes later the gunmen fired a shot at the West Derby pub in Utting Avenue, but no one was injured.

At the same time another attacker on a motorbike rode up to the Hare and Hounds pub on Mill Lane and shot a bouncer in the leg. He was kept in hospital overnight for treatment, police said.

Superintendent Jon Roy said: "Four people were injured as a result of these incidents and we are fortunate that no one was killed.

"The people who are responsible for these despicable attacks showed a total disregard for anyone who may have been drinking in those pubs, or walking near to them, and they need to be caught."
