Internet Ironware 7.0 Software Upgrade to Bring Significant Benefits

to E-Commerce, Internet Service Providers, and Enterprises

Foundry Networks, Inc. (Nasdaq:FDRY), today announced the immediate availability of Internet Ironware release 7.0 software that powers the ServerIron family of Internet traffic and content management switches.

With the new Internet Ironware software upgrade, ServerIron switches provide significant enhancements to firewall load balancing, server load balancing, and global server load balancing to make the network infrastructure for E-Commerce, ISPs and enterprises more secure and manageable.

Major new features include:

-- High performance multi-zone firewall load balancing to deploy

web servers in a de-militarized zone for enhanced security

-- Enhanced Network Address Translation that eases IP address

depletion problems and improves security for Intranets and

server farms

-- Secure Shell access that enables secure remote management of

ServerIron switches

-- Flexible application-based Slow-Start that ensures new servers

can be gracefully added to the load balancing pool on-line

-- Enhanced content awareness to perform superior content health

checks on web servers and to switch web traffic based on URLs

and cookies at the same time

-- Affinity-based site selection in global server load balancing

that lets enterprise users configure preferential Intranet

sites for different branch offices

Foundry's ServerIron family of web switches provide sophisticated Internet traffic and content management features, including server load balancing, URL and cookie based switching, global server load balancing, firewall load balancing and transparent cache switching. "To further increase the reliability and scalability of web-based application delivery systems, multi-site (or global) load balancing is rapidly becoming a 'best practice norm'," said Mark Hoover, president of Acuitive Inc., a leading market research and consulting firm in the web traffic and content management switching market. "Foundry's implementation supports the most features, with the greatest flexibility of application of all the products available today," continued Hoover.

"Foundry is taking security seriously. Foundry customers can implement secure solutions with Foundry products, due to Foundry offering a free out of the box Secure Shell (SSH) implementation, great security documentation, and responsive support," said Andrew van der Stock, security architect at e-Secure Pty Ltd, a leading security consulting firm in Australia.

"With Internet Ironware 7.0, Foundry once again sets the bar for network infrastructure manageability and security," said Bobby Johnson, president and CEO of Foundry Networks. "By continually innovating and advancing the web switching technology, Foundry gives its customers the competitive edge by utilizing the next generation of intelligent switching features. By leveraging our IronCore(TM) technology and architecture across our product lines, Foundry is able to deliver all of these advancements for a great price, reducing the overall network infrastructure costs," continued Johnson.

Powered by Internet Ironware, the ServerIron web switches lead the industry in performance, price/performance, switching intelligence, and port density. Foundry is the first vendor to provide end-to-end networking infrastructure solutions that encompass high performance web switches, Internet routers and wire-speed Layer 2/3 switches. Internet Ironware release 7.0 is available at no extra cost to all existing Foundry customers. Pricing information for ServerIron web switches is available at
