Forum set to probe key safety issues.

The fifth Society of Petroleum Engineers (SPE) Middle East Health, Safety, Security and Environment Conference and Exhibition will be held at the Gulf Hotel, Bahrain, from Monday.

The three-day event, under the patronage of Oil and Gas Affairs Minister and National Oil and Gas Authority chairman Dr Abdulhussain Mirza, will focus on criteria for an effective health, safety and environment (HSE) programme, bringing together experts from the region and beyond.

Being held under the theme, 'Striving for HSE excellence in a changing world: capacity, energy demand, security, world economy and social responsibility', the event will tackle the criteria for maintaining an effective HSE programme that goes beyond the simple compliance with HSE requirements and regulations and the means of successful implementations.

International HSE experts will present topics such as HSE management, behavioural-based safety, health and safety practices, risk management, the environment, process safety, social responsibility, security and land transportation and road safety.

Leading-edge organisations will showcase the latest technologies, products and services for the industry.

The conference will include other features this year, such as networking sessions, and a workshop on land transportation safety.- TradeArabia News Service
