Forum outlines impact of new legislation; In association with RBS.

NORTH-EAST companies were briefed by stock market experts yesterday, learning about developments in the money markets and the effects of new law.

The PLC Forum, held at the Baltic Centre, was hosted by commercial law firm Muckle, the London Stock Exchange and The Journal . It is the first time that the Forum has been held in the North-East.

An audience of directors from many of the region's leading plcs heard from Muckle's commercial partner Andrew Davison, Mark Fahy, the LSE's senior manager UK company services, and Robin Staveley, director of Tribal Resourcing.

The speakers covered the performance of the main market and the Alternative Investment Market in 2007, the recruitment of non-executive directors and directors' duties under the Companies Act 2006.

Mr Davison said: "The PLC Forum was a great success and at Muckle LLP we are delighted to have been instrumental in bringing it for the first time to Newc astle.

"It's important that plcs and companies considering becoming plcs should remain up-to-date with how the markets are operating and how legislation affects them. The Forum proved an ideal vehicle for that and we hope to repeat the exercise in the future."

SPEAKER: Andrew Davison.
