Fortum wins operation and maintenance contract in Germany.

Finnish energy group Fortum Corporation reported on Thursday (13 April) that it has entered into a six-year operation and maintenance contract with Knapsack Power GmbH & Co KG in Germany.

The contract covers the running and service of an 800 MW combined cycle gas turbine plant that is currently being built in Huerth-Knapsack, near Cologne. Commercial operation of the plant is scheduled to begin in summer 2007, Fortum stated.

Knapsack Power is owned and operated by the Norwegian state-owned power utility Statkraft.

The value of the contract was not disclosed.
