Former soldier found hanged.

A FORMER soldier was found hanged by a belt in a wardrobe after a row with his girlfriend but may not have intended to kill himself, an inquest heard yesterday.

Gavin Kyte, 33, who served in Bosnia, Kosovo, Germany and Canada, was discovered by his parents Neil and Marion in the bedroom of his caravan in the grounds of their home.

His father, a former police officer, made every effort to revive his son, giving him a heart massage at the caravan in Pentrecelyn, Ruthin.

Emergency services personnel continued to treat him but he couldn't be saved. He had drunk the equivalent of four pints of beer. North east Wales acting coroner John Gittins said he couldn't be certain the father of three intended to end his life. He recorded an open verdict. Afterwards, Mrs Kyte said it was out of character: "He didn't realise how many people were touched by him. He was such a character. There were over 400 people at his funeral. Everybody loved him."
