Former rail workers take a trip back in time.

GREAT Western Railway workers took a trip down memory lane yesterday commemorating the 45th anniversary of the closure of the Ruabon to Barmouth line.

Former booking clerks, engineers and signalmen took the train from Carrog to Llangollen for their annual get together.

The line from Barmouth to Ruabon closed in 1965, but the GWR staff who worked on that railway and their widows gathered on the train for a special trip.

Former booking clerk Eryl Edwards said: "Usually we hold the annual get together in Bala but because it was the 45th anniversary we decided to do something different."
