Former Axiom head lands operations role.

THE former head of Newbridge-based contract electronic manufacturer Axiom, Shaun Ashmead, has been appointed to a new role in the Midlands.

Manufacturing expert Mr Ashmead, from Ebbw Vale, has been appointed by Birmingham-based provider of bespoke cable assemblies, integrated products and logistics services, CHH, as director in charge of operations. This follows the firm's recent rebranding to CHH CoNeX and announcement of a major growth strategy.

Managing director, Tim Hughes, who started the company with eight employees in 1990, said: "CHH CoNeX is a very well-established cable assemblies, integrated products and logistics services provider with a solid track record in the telecoms and industrial markets.

"The appointment of Shaun Ashmead as director responsible for operations is a great win for the business and will enable CHH CoNeX to deliver our products and services at the optimum total cost of acquisition across all of our chosen markets."

Mr Ashmead joins CHH CoNeX from his previous role as managing director at Axiom.

He said: "My role will be to leverage the company's strengths for the advantage of both new and existing customers."

CHH CoNeX employs about 105 people at its 85,000 sq ft Witton plant.
