Foreign Ministry of Kyrgyzstan: Incident in Andarak village has no "political or ethnic background".
Kyrgyz Foreign Minister Ruslan Kazakbaev assured his Tajik colleague Khamrokhon Zarifi that the incident in Andarak village of Leilek district in Batken oblast that occurred on December 29 had no "political or ethnic background," said the Foreign Ministry of Tajikistan. The ministers held a telephone conversation on December 30 and during the talks Zarifi expressed concern of the Tajik side about the incident that occurred between Kyrgyz citizens - ethnic Tajiks and Kyrgyz, who lived in Andarak. "The Minister of Foreign Affairs of Kyrgyzstan informed Khamrokhon Zarifi that the skirmish occurred on domestic reasons and is devoid of political or ethnic background," said the statement of the Foreign Ministry of Tajikistan. Now the situation is completely under government control, noted Kazakbaev."He also noted that police holds explanatory works on the incident," added the Tajik Foreign Ministry. According to law enforcement authorities of Kyrgyzstan, conflict, number of participants of which was more than 1.5 thousand people, was triggered by an incident that occurred between unknown people of Tajik ethnicity and pupils of Kyrgyz nationality.
