Ford launches new explorer in Oman.
At the unveiling of the new model, a senior spokesperson of Arabian Car Marketing, said, "At ACM, it is a matter of tremendous satisfaction that Ford has made a prominent place in the hearts of consumers in Oman. Many of the models such as the Expedition, F-150, Ranger, Focus and more have become household names.
"Building on 25 years of innovation and sales leadership, the new Explorer is built with even more smart technology. It shall continue to lead the way in innovation, performance and fun. We are confident that the new Explorer will exceed expectations of our customers."
Sharing interesting insights into the new Explorer, Marianne, said, "It has an unmatched combination of power, luxury and advanced technology features. It's at the top of the midsize SUV sales. The Explorer is one of our most recognised Ford nameplates in the region and drives overall Ford brand opinion. The refreshed 2016 Explorer is better looking than it's ever been. The 2016 edition gets a new look, a new engine, a new trim level and a raft of new technologies."
The 2106 edition will continue to be available in base, XLT, Limited and Sports trim lines. It is equipped with a new fascia, LED signature lights, new grille, hood, fenders, wheel line-up, rims, roof wreck, tail lamps, lift gate, new exhaust tips and a powerfold third row. New technologies include an available front and 180A wide rear-view camera with washers, parking assist system that can now park the Explorer perpendicularly, while parking sensors are now available for the front. The hands-free, foot-activated power liftgate that debuted on the Escape is now available in the Explorer. The standard engine in the base, XLT and Limited models will be a normally aspirated 3.5ltr V6 producing an estimated 290hp and 345Nm of torque."
The exterior of the Explorer has new signature lighting that surrounds the LED headlamps, giving the vehicle a continuous glow. Other exterior updates include a standard dual-panel moonroof, premium silver-painted front and rear skid plate elements, and a new 18 and 20-inch wheel line-up.
In the Explorer, the intelligent four-wheel drive with Terrain Management System is ready for any driving condition. It reassesses conditions about 20 times faster than the blink of an eye providing precise handling and traction. It continuously monitors wheel speed, throttle position and steering wheel angle to determine vehicle conditions and driver intent.
The system then determines the optimal amount of front and rear torque for the given conditions to prevent slipping to keep the vehicle sure-footed on virtually any terrain. In sand, grass or gravel mode, the antilock braking system changes its pulse rate, which allows material to build up in front of the wheels, acting as a doorstop of sorts to help slow momentum.
Interior changes help enhance quietness in the cabin.
There are new door seals, and an enhanced sound package includes engine subframe mounts specially tuned to reduce vibration. Acoustic glass is used on the windshield and front doors on the XLT and higher trim levels. The new Explorer benefits from an improved suspension for better handling and a quiet cabin, enabling a comfortable ride even when the pavement turns to dirt. Ford completely retuned the Explorer's chassis to clearly differentiate the driving experiences offered by the XLT and Sport models.
The suspension uses MacPherson construction with an isolated subframe and 32mm stabiliser bar at the front, while an independent multilink rear setup uses a 22mm stabiliser bar. Explorer Sport customers looking for a more dynamic driving experience will benefit from unique steering gear, front and rear springs, struts and rear dampers.
The 2016 Explorer boasts of advanced safety features to reward customers with happy journeys. These features include second generation driver and front passenger side seat airbags, third row safety canopy with rollover sensor, AdvanceTrac with Roll Stability Control, BLIS with Cross Traffic Alert, Front 180A camera with washer, perpendicular parking and more.
The new Explorer is now on display at the Ford showroom in Wattayah.
