Ford Considering 'Indigenous Brands' In China.

Ford Motor Company (NYSE: F) is considering launching local China-only brands as it bolsters its own brand in the largest global auto market, according to Reuters Monday.

"We always are in discussions with our joint-venture partners. All I can tell you is we are studying indigenous brands, but our total focus in terms of brand enhancement is really on the Ford brand," David Schoch, CEO of Ford China Operations said, according to Reuters.

Dearborn-based Ford currently operates a joint venture with Chongqing, China's Changan Automobile Company Ltd. and Mazda Motor Corporation (Tokyo: 7261). The company also holds a 30 percent stake in Nanchang-based Jiangling Motors Corporation Ltd. Ford Motor Company (NYSE: F) shares fell 5 cents to $10.07 Monday morning.
