AUGUST sees the launch of Wales' newest rock festival at the stunning mountain-top location of Hafod-y-Dafal Farm, Aberbeeg, near Ebbw Vale.

The Steelhouse Festival kicks off on Friday, August 19, with a bill comprising the cream of UK tribute acts, including Whitesnake UK, Pure Purple, Hot Red Chilli Peppers and headliners - Bon Giovi.

The rocking continues when Saturday brings together a bevy of classic rock acts - both established and rising. Red White & Blues join headliners The Quireboys, and special guests - glam metal veterans Tigertailz and a host of classic rock's incendiary new breed, including Black Spiders, Fighting Wolves, Tom Hollister Trio and Heaven's Basement.

Following the success of the Steelhouse Rock club in Ebbw Vale, Limeface partner Sally Ann Evans said: "The overwhelming response we've had from the music lovers, not just in the South Wales Valleys but all over Wales, the Borders, Midlands, and the South-West, has confirmed our strong belief that the region is ready for an event of this type.

"It has also allowed us to secure exclusives with world class bands including The Answer, who will be appearing at the club in October."

Legendary Welsh shock rockers Tigertailz are excited to be special guests on the Saturday, particularly as it sees the return of their original drummer Ace Fincham for the first time since the early 1990s - giving fans the first chance to see all surviving members of the 'classic' line-up perform.

Tigertailz vocalist, Kim Hooker confirmed: "The time is right to do this. A few months ago I thought to myself, the first gig back with Ace has to be in Wales, this is where the band started, we're Welsh, it must be in Wales.

"Then miraculously, the Steelhouse Festival came along and everything fell into place, it couldn't have been better."

This inaugural festival is creating a massive buzz in the area and excitement is growing for what will undoubtedly be the first of many to come.

Limeface's Matt Rhead said: "We're already making plans for next year's festival which is set to spread over three days and two stages building on the anticipated success of this year's festival.

"There is a real appetite for an event of this type in the South Wales Valleys, this Festival has the potential to become part of the National and European Festival calendar.

"The site itself at Hafod-y-Dafal Farm is a spectacular backdrop for this event and has the potential to host upwards of 20,000 people.

"For the first year we have a strict limit of 2,000 tickets and people having been buying them from as far afield as Glasgow, Gateshead, Merseyside and Devon, which is incredibly exciting.

"This is an amazing opportunity for music fans in this area to experience a Festival on this scale. It promises to be the rock event of the summer in South Wales."

The festival will provide everything the seasoned festival-goer expects - including food and drink stands, fairground rides, on-site parking and camping on both nights.

"The Steelhouse Festival also actively encourages all those music lovers with families to bring the kids along and let them experience a 'real' rock festival on their door-step.
