THE notorious foul on Battiston was committed by German goalkeeper Harald Schumacher (Page 17, May 21).

THE pictures at the top of the spoof 3pm column were not of models but of members of the rock group Slipknot (Page 68, May 18).

THE Second World War plane pictured flying over a burning Malta is more likely to have been Italian than German (Page 44, May 18).

LIVERPOOL won the league in 1988 not 1987 (Page 66, May 18).

THE US President's residence was not burnt down by Royal Marines during the War of Independence but in the Anglo-American War of 1812-14. After being rebuilt it was whitewashed and named the White House (Page 5, May 22). THE featherless chickens which so upset readers were not genetically modified but were crossbred from a small bare-skinned bird and a normal broiler (Page 40, May 24).

WAS King Solomon black? He certainly had black ancestry as his mother, Bathsheba, was a Hittite, who were Hamitic and thus black-skinned (Page 49, May 23).
