For batter for worse! Gav & Stacey fans' chippy wedding reception.

Byline: Name Here

A DEVOTED fan of hit comedy Gavin & Stacey had her dream wedding - with fish and chips and amusement arcades at the Barry Island seaside resort.

Bride Jane Hobbs, 47, loves the popular BBC sitcom so much she wanted a full Gavin & Stacey wedding for 50 guests.

Groom Tony Howarth's friends travelled from his home town in Essex, just like Gavin, to meet her Welsh family, just like Stacey, for the big day.

Then it was a wedding in the local register office, reception in a seafront chip shop and an afternoon in the amusement arcades.

Carer Jane said: "It was fabulous.

Everybody loved it - and they all love Gavin & Stacey like me."

Jane and Tony replicated the television romance by saying "I do" in the seaside town where Stacey - played by Joanna Page - grew up.

And train driver Tony's family travelled from Essex just like Gavin - played by Matt Horne - to meet her family.

Jane said: "We wanted that same warm friendly feeling as Gavin & Stacey. And that's what we had.

"It was a lovely, relaxing day and one wedding no-one will ever forget."

The reception was held at the comedy show's featured chip shop called Boofy's where Gavin & Stacey episodes were played on the TV.

Then they all played bingo and games at Island Leisure - famously known as the home of Nessa's slots in the BBC series.

Mum-of-three Jane, who lives in Chepstow, and Tony, from Ilford, wanted a fun day after both had been married in traditional style before.

Jane said: "I loved the place as a kid and Gavin and Stacey brought it all back to me.

"It was great." Tony, 48, said: "My parents travelled from Canvey Island and I had loads of people from Essex.

"Everyone loved how friendly the Welsh people were and seeing all the sights from Gavin & Stacey."

The entire day cost the couple just over pounds 1,000 - before a honeymoon in London taking in musicals and tourist sites.

Best man Steve Nash, 48, said: "Jane said she wanted something unconventional - and she achieved it."

While chippy owner Boofy said: "I have never done a wedding before.

"Have you heard of a wedding in a chippy? It was great."
