ARSENE WENGER was last night blamed for the double red-card disgrace that marred Arsenal's stormy Champions League draw in Eindhoven.

PSV coach Guus Hiddink accused Wenger of winding up his own players by moaning constantly to the fourth official about tough Dutch tackling.

Lauren and Patrick Vieira were dismissed and will be suspended when Arsenal face Rosenborg on December 7 needing victory to be certain of progressing to the knock-out stage.

A brilliant Thierry Henry goal after Andre Ooijer had put PSV ahead earned the nine-man Gunners a vital point, but in a stunning attack on the Frenchman Hiddink said he believed Wenger's touchline whingeing had led directly

to the second-half dismissals of Lauren and Patrick Vieira - his tenth in an Arsenal shirt.

Hiddink said: "You can have a reaction to some things on the touchline but not that frequently.

"That's why some of his players lost their temper. I was surprised players like Vieira and Lauren lost their discipline but their manager did not help them in that. Wenger was complaining all the time to the fourth officials about our tackles. He was provoking the situation."

Wenger carried on his complaints after the match, accusing referee Herbert Fandel of double standards.

Wenger said: "We have to accept the decision to send Patrick and Lauren off but the referee was a lot more lenient with Mark van Bommel.

"If you look at the number of fouls he made without being punished it is very surprising because he made some deliberate fouls. Some people might criticise Patrick when we were down to 10 men but he felt he had to fight harder to win the ball."

Lauren said: "It was very harsh. My first booking came when there should have been a yellow card for their player and on the second I definitely got the ball."

Henry, who scored his 14th goal of the season, limped away with an Achilles injury that makes him doubtful for Sunday's trip to Liverpool. Robin van Persie also looks out of the reckoning after picking up a knee problem and leaving the game on a stretcher.
