Football: Flying start for Bonner; HULL 1 ROTHERHAM 0.

MARK Bonner scored on his debut to give bottom club Hull new hope.

Bonner, who has joined Hull on a month's loan from Cardiff along with Gary Brabin from Blackpool, made a big impression in midfield.

Hull have suffered five successive defeats, but they rocked Rotherham from the start with some rousing football in which strikers David Brown and Gareth Williams both went close.

There was no way back for United when Bonner scored from the edge of the area after 35 minutes.

The second half was a midfield dogfight in which Hull again applied most of the pressure, while at the back Jason Perry looked assured.

But it took a great save by Andy Oakes from Paul Raven in injury time to preserve their lead.
