Football stars earn their cash.

WHY do so many people keep having a pop at top footballers' wages? These players are now part of showbusiness, are watched by millions worldwide and deserve adequate reward.

They create and keep many in jobs, especially in the media. I am not just thinking of media pundits, but all the other people behind the scenes.

Just think about it for a while and you will realise how many people make a living because of these players. Would advertisers take so much space in newspapers and on TV? And how would that affect jobs, for instance? Also remember that, unlike actors, (apart from those on stage), there are no retakes when they fluff their lines and they do not have the advantage of "digital enhancement" the way so many so-called singers do. What you see is what you get.

The only gripe I have is that, seemingly, some of them are avoiding paying their fair share of income tax which, in my opinion, is inexcusable whoever you are.
