Football ace looks to score a goal in council elections.

A FORMER football player and coach plans to score some goals with his voters as he is contesting for the municipal council polls.

Waleed Amin said he wants to promote sport as a means to empower youth and help them work.

"I played football for 18 years, from 1982-2005, in the right wing position, and even coached local clubs.

"I want to be part of the democratic process and am contesting for the first time," said Mr Amin, who is contesting from Muharraq's constituency two (Middle Muharraq station).

Meanwhile, parliament candidate Hussain Al Nusooh filed his nominations from constituency six (Dair and Samaheej) which is the same area from where his brother Ali Nusooh filed his nomination to contest for a municipal council seat.

"We brothers are confident to serve the citizens in our area and have separate election campaigns," said Hussain Al Nusooh.
