Football: football ROUND-UP - Backe in at City.

MANCHESTER CITY manager Sven-Goran Eriksson is expected to name fellow Swede HANS BACKE as his right-hand man today.

Backe, 57, has a wealth of experience and has been working as a TV pundit after leaving Panathinaikos.

Eriksson turned to Backe after Roland Andersson decided to stay in his role as Sweden's assistant manager.

Meanwhile Eriksson is interested in pounds 7m Sweden striker Johan Elmander.

Eriksson said: "He has had a tremendous development during the last two years and is a proven international."
