Football: Wrexham 1 Barnsley 0.

TEN-MAN Wrexham hung on against Barnsley to claim their first home win of the year.

Chris Llewellyn was rewarded for his powerful run, racing from his own half and firing home, courtesy of a deflection off Brian O'Callaghan.

Carlos Edwards shot wide early on for Wrexham before Dennis Lawrence cleared on-loan Barnsley striker Daniel Nardiello's shot off the line.

Chris Armstrong then had two chances to make the game safe in the second-half, before Lawrence was sent off after scything down new Barnsley signing Michael Boulding.

Visiting striker Mark Stallard hit the post late on, but Wrexham held firm and Llewellyn could have made it 2-0 at the death.
